The Gift of Spring

"The important thing is this; to be able at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become."

- Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

I love this quote. It is so inspiring for me. What a good reminder: keep letting go. Only then can we shift, change, grow. We have to let go of what isn't serving us, old habits, old patterns, in order to continuously become and merge into our highest potential. We are ever changing, ever shifting, as we define and re-define who we want to be.

Now is the time for change. With the return of spring, the shoots and flowers emerging from the depths of the earth, I feel my own abundance, energy, and vitality returning. As I watch these plants emerge, I feel the potential, the hope, the new beginnings they represent.

Spring has always been a challenging time for me. I am an autumn gal - I love the crisp breeze, the changing colors, the warm fires, the hearty stews, spending more time at home, turning inward in contemplation. It's usually somewhat difficult for me to re-emerge in the springtime and to embrace all the outward energy again.

But this spring I am really trying to embrace it's offerings. Spring tells me to stop holding myself back. It teaches me to dust myself off, shake and stretch myself out, and get ready for movement and growth. It allows me to redefine myself. It allows me to let go of what's left of any wintertime stagnancy. It ushers in new teachings and well as new ways of becoming. I am ready. I am ready to sacrifice the parts of myself that are holding me back, and I am putting my trust in the universe to provide me with greater opportunities then I could ever imagine.
