What wants to be dreamed through you?

We sat in Circle with Elder last week and she has been rocking my world ever since, taking me through dream initiations, death and rebirth portals, and bringing me face to face with unclaimed power within me.

She’s been teaching me somatically how to be more present with this time-between-time moment in the wheel of the year, and helping me access the power and potential that’s here.

You see, the sacred cauldron of possibility is here. The expansive potentiality of the darkness, with undetermined timelines swirling, the dreamscape weaving itself into a shapes yet unknown.

This is the time between death and birth.

A sometimes uncomfortable time, when the old has died and the new is yet to be born, we get the privilege of sitting with the unknown. Feeling. Sensing. Listening. Opening to what might be, but not grasping or knowing the next action quite yet.

Shadows of a mountain range can be seen under a brilliant starry night sky. A woman stands on a rock and is illuminated from behind with a circle of light, her body and face in shadows, her arms poised like she is in the middle of a dance.

It’s a space that’s difficult for our modern minds to be with. Especially when in this sacred darkness so much light and noise is blaring at us from the outside. “Black Friday (that’s now starting in October!?!), Holiday prep, Travel plans, To-Do lists, more things to buy, make sure to take advantage of the deals!!”

But underneath all of the noise and flashy sales is a more ancient truth.

The Dark Mother is here.

Destroying and creating worlds, stirring the cauldron of possibility, cackling spells of dissolution so something greater can be born within us, inviting us to jump out of old timelines and be open to the striking possibility of dreaming something we never thought possible.

Can you be with Her? Here in this darkness? Even for a few moments a day? Can you descend into this space of Soul? Of no-thing-ness? And let yourself and your life come undone just enough, so that more of what’s true can be dreamed through you?

Connect with plant wisdom for the dark season

Each month, I'm sharing plant spirit medicine in my new podcast, Plant Wisdom Circle. I’m so excited to share more about Elder’s medicine in Episode 2, and you can listen to the first episode to connect with the medicine of Quaking Aspen, who is equally as stirring for these dark liminal days.

Amy's face surrounded by leaves is the cover photo for her podcast, Plant Wisdom Circle. Episode 2 will explore the medicine and wisdom of Elder.
