Healing requires you to do less, not more.

Most people are told that in order to heal they have to add more in.

This diet is the best, definitely don’t eat that, take these supplements, don’t look at your screen before bed, make sure you’re getting 8 hours of sleep, but also make sure you get up with the sun so you get the natural morning light or your hormones are gonna be thrown off, end your shower with cold water, get your 30 mins of cardio every day, but also make sure you’re lifting weights, are you going to see a naturopath, LMT, acupuncturist at least once a month? And you probably need to go on that yoga or Ayahuasca retreat for a full reset…

While all of these things can be supportive and healing, it’s often not the “action” or the “doing" that heals or changes you, but rather your state of being and how you approach your actions that matter more.

How did you feel when you were reading through the list of things you need to do in order to be “healthy?” Just writing it I felt a level of anxiety and tension in my body. A feeling that I’m not doing enough, that I have to do more and do it better.

Where the 'do more' narratives come from

Can you spot the Capitalistic stories of needing to do more in order to be ok? The Patriarchal and Colonialist ideology of conquering or “bio-hacking” our bodies?

So much of the sickness in our culture - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual - all comes from our approach. Our mindset. What I’m picturing here is whipping a horse to gallop faster, and realizing that something we often say is I need to “whip myself into shape.”

No thank you. I don’t need to be whipped into shape.

I’d much rather soften and open to my own unfolding truth and let that be my guide. I’d rather not clutch or squeeze anxiously to all the things I need to “get in” in a day in order to check the box of a healthy individual.

This is making us more sick.

A different perspective on healing

We don’t need to add more into our lives, but approach ourselves and life from a different perspective.

One of the biggest things I hear from people who want to feel more alive, to deepen in connection with themselves and the earth, who long for a more integrated and peaceful existence in their bodies, who want to learn to trust themselves, and stop doubting their majesty, their intuition is … I don’t think I have the time.

It’s a knee-jerk reaction because we’re so used to thinking we need to add more in.

But really, healing is much more about letting go of speed and control. Making space. Giving yourself permission to be with yourself and what’s actually present.

Driving to pick up your kids while sensing into how your body is doing and meeting yourself with compassion. Feeling so overwhelmed or angry or sad, and allowing yourself to feel it all the way through instead of telling yourself you’re too sensitive or weak. Walking your dog, and lingering in contact with the lavender on the street…

Can you let what’s not you fall away with the noise of busyness so you can actually feel the heartbeat of the desire, the strength, the power within you? The force of life inside you that’s been waiting to be let out a little more?

How The Golden Stone Immersion supports 'doing less' in your healing journey

Part of why I love the container of the Golden Stone Immersion is because we have 6 luxurious months where you commit to showing up to be with yourself 90 mins a week. You make space for yourself to settle into your felt-sense a little more fully. You check-in with the deepest aspects of the Self. You journey with your widest knowing to uncover shining truths within you.

It’s less about cramming more information in your system and more about crafting spaciousness to practice opening to your felt experience. Sensing energy. Communing with the consciousness of life that’s moving in and around you.

Of course you don’t need to join GSI to do this (though it does help to have the container set, the accountability there, the loving guidance present.)

Any of us can start to make the shift in how we’re approaching healing right in this moment.

What happens when we approach healing from a 'do less' perspective

When we move away from seeing healing as a ladder to climb where one day it’ll be finished, we stop feeling impatience for when we’re going to get “there” (I expand on this topic in my blog post here).

When we can give ourselves grace, and lean into the spiral dance of the soul’s journey, we can have a lot more fun.

The grip loosens. Everything and everyone and every moment becomes a teacher, a medicine. And we learn how to be with ourselves and life more and more. Deeper and deeper. Wider and wider. And the whole healing journey becomes exciting, pleasurable even, and integrated into our (often very full) lives.

Reclaiming our power from the forces of distortion is what we do in the Golden Stone Immersion. We excavate the outdated stories, reclaim specific types of power through each of the chakras, and reweave ourselves back into the Oceanic Power of the Earth.

This re-harmonizes our inner terrain. We deepen our relationship with the Earth body again. And we become more fully ourselves. More fully alive, pulsing with The Magic of Life.
