Reclaiming Sovereignty in Your Erotic Power

I had a beautiful Reconnection Session last week with someone in the Golden Stone Community around desire, sexual energy, sovereignty, and power. What a perfect conversation to be having during the peak days of Summer and Fire.
What she brought to the session is something I hear so often from women in this culture: how it feels to be objectified. We learned at a young age that our bodies weren’t for us. We learned to use sex as a transactional tool, not as a current of our own organic life-force. We learned that turning on our sexual energy gives us unwanted attention. It can feel dangerous. Or can feel that when we’re in our sexual energy we immediately become more of an object of desire rather than a whole person. So many of us learned to shut down our true, erotic energy.
How Sexual Energy Becomes Distorted
Sexual energy has become so distorted, but at its core, it’s creative life-force moving through us. Erotic energy is life-force energy. It is vitality. It is creative energy. It is LIFE. When we can start to untangle this energy from all the ways in which it’s been distorted, we start to reclaim our sovereignty, our power, our creativity back again.
So I walked her through an exercise to take her sexual energy back for herself. To unhook it from a man, and feel the current of her sex-energy as her own. Belonging to herself. Sovereign in her own erotic power.
The thing is, so often we have stories that hook our sexual energy into something else outside of ourselves. Something limited. Smaller. Not fully true. Like needing approval from someone else. Or the belief that the turn on you feel in your body is only linked to this person who “turned you on,” when really, your own body did that. This erotic energy is your own energy. You don’t need the other person in order to feel your own turn on.
What Happens When We Reclaim our Erotic Power
As I guided her to feel what her own erotic energy felt like in her body, claiming it for herself, she came alive. More power flowed through her. She felt liberated and could feel this erotic energy of hers connected to something much bigger and more “true” than any one person.
Connected to Oceanic Power. To the Goddess. To the erotic nature of Life. Something so wide and wild and stirring that it could never be taken. It was incredibly empowering.
When we reclaim our energy back from the forces of distortion, the forces that keep us separated from authentic Life Force, we become more alive. We often immediately feel and recognize ourselves as part of the wider power of life. We literally plug back in to the truth.
